033Big ups to Pinks for hitting 95# on her Overhead Squat yesterday. Her squat above is flawless. Hips back. Knees out over the feet. Torso is up. Active shoulders. She not only was the top female but also beat half of the men. Weighing in at 115# that is 83% of her bodyweight. I predict she will OH squat her bodyweight by Thanksgiving. On the mens side Ross hit 165#(2 months of CrossFitting) with Andre taking the gold at 175#.

Hey Crossfitters: Thank you so much for running the Race for the Cure. I did finish the race with about 50 of my teammates from Imua Outrigger Canoe Club. I want to be in the gym so badly, it hurts and I most definitely haven’t forgotten about anyone who I have just met at OCCrossfit. It has been pretty rough on my end. I underwent a serious surgery, a bilateral mastectomy 2 weeks ago, and they found invasive cancer in my lymph nodes and that is bad. I have a bumpy road ahead of me. The hardest part is that I am fuckin’ strong and have done EVERYTHING right to inadvertently prevent something like this. I am healthy and I feel like I am being punked. I hate feeling helpless and restricted and I can’t believe this is fuckin’g happening to me. I am a mother of a beautiful 2 year old daughter and an awesome 4 year old son, and they keep me going but it is really hard right now. Being a athlete is a blessing and curse. I know I will “survive” going through this shit because I can endure adversity but at the same time I believe there is absolutely no fucking reason for all of this. If you were to look at my bio..it does not match up. I am strong in every way and I know it, so it makes me so mad. Meanwhile, I am working on channeling energy, as well as, putting together new goals after I go through all the treatments. Fortunately, I have a superhuman husband and family who have caught when I was just about to fall and more friends than I ever imagined. I will keep you all updated as to when and how chemo goes…apparently, I will be very fatigued as they fuckin poison me. So, when I am all done, I will need everyone I can get to pull me back up from the depth back up to being the top competitor. Does anyone have any wild physical feats they want to challenge me with when I return? Throw them out there because thinking about doing crazy shit helps me move forward.

PINKY oh my gosh girl congrats! OH squats are tough and you killed it! Nice job:)

Lysanne, you are such a fighter and should serve as an inspiration to us all here at OCC. You’re determined and won’t let anything get in the way of your health. I think that is admirable.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Let OCC know how else we can help you out – we love ya and can’t wait to see back in the box!

Lysanne, you’re right that there’s no fucking reason for this. But I can say that seeing your strength as you fight your ass off to beat this is touching and inspiring all of us. And your friends at OCC have your back every step of the way. So here’s your challenge for when you get back: 10 rope climbs. I can’t even do one yet. But I know you can do anything…

Lysanne: I have a good friend who is one of the most well know rock climbers there is. I have climbed with him many times and can tell you he is a world class professional guide. rigged many well know movies and trained teams of special forces. No too long ago, one of his clients survived what you are now going through. She committed herself to putting her survival spirit to work to accomplish something physical which was/is really difficult. She went to Bob Gaines, trained her ass off – and then made the trip to Yosemite to climb El Cap. It’s tough, physically demanding, a bloody marathon and 3 days on probably the best known 1,000 ft face in the world. Now, climbing is not everyones’s cup of tea, but if you are looking for an event to celebrate your success, I know of no better example. And yes…. she made it. We think about you often. Chip
