Getting some on the hill sprints. 25 kb swings drop then sprint 100 yards uphill. Repeat 5x.
BTW guys those were some excellent well thought out comments on yesterdays blog post. Thank you all for posting and making this blog lively. Yesterday we had a record 555 views. Keep posting guys!
Coach Greg Glassman is giving a lecture on Saturday up in Monrovia. I have an extra ticket to the person who can give me the best reason why they should go. Click here for more info.
Are you planning on doing the 2010 Orange County CrossFit Throwdown? If so please print and fill out the registration form found under the side bar on our main page. Come on guys this is our event. We are hosting it and we need a healthy turnout of our members at this thing. It is going to be big. Im talking 100 competitors big. First one to have the registration filled out and on my desk gets half off entry.
My favorite movement of all is the jerk. Just love it. Its so explosive that when you nail a good one your PR should feel almost light. I hit a new one today of 245# and it felt effortless. My bugaboo is handstand push ups. I hate em. I look forward to making them better. But I still hate em! Of all the movements in your training which one do you feel like you just own? Which one feels like it owns you?
WOD
Press- take 10 minutes to quickly build to a 1RM.
Split Jerk- take your time and work on technique building to a 1 RM.
Then
5 rounds of Ballistic Cindy. Chest to bar chins, clapping pushups, and jumping airsquats.
Enjoy. Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Part of Bens comments yesterday.
…I remember when we did the workouts at the NAC in a hallway about 3′ wide. Meanwhile, all of those super athletic paddlers that worked out at the NAC at the time (wink wink) thought we were crazy. Brings back great memories and a lot of pain. Most importantly though, we have learned how to push each other and feed off each others energy. Like AJ said, can’t wait to do a WOD…maybe a wod on turkey day just before we stuff ourselves full of food??? …Just remember to “watch those hips bitch!”
Ben and AJ i miss you guys. Turkey Day wod is so on.
I am sooooo in for the Throwdown. Are you kidding me? This is exactly the type of thing that makes yesterday’s blog so poignant.
I’m going to push myself so hard and train for this thing. Last year around March I was truly in the best shape of my life. Xfitting 3-5 days a week. Anybody that does this thing is asking to get pushed. I’m asking for it.
We need to rep OCC guys.
Count me in JMF
Although I like my job, being a desk jockey it isn’t good for the mind/body/soul. The 2 things I look forward too in my day are (1) turning on my computer and seeing what today’s WOD is (2) Walking into the gym and knowing that I am about to push my body to the limit to matter how sore I might be from the day before.
Thank you to everyone who has pushed me through some of the WODs.
Count me in for the OCC Throwdown.
I am certainly in for the Throwdown, just need to give my shoulder a little rest so I can really start training!! Overhead squat is the one I feel like I own. I feel comfortable with that movement and it seems to come naturally. The one I HATE is wall balls. Can’t stand doing them, don’t like doing them and basically try to avoid them, which means I should do those the most and overhead squat the least. Case in point was the double-unders. I hated those and refused to do them because I couldn’t, until I made a conscious effort to practice and now they are much easier.
Philip… I agree with you 100%. Getting up every morning knowing your going to be sitting at a desk for 8+ hours is not very motivating (as Joshie said “Repetion is death”). But knowing that when you get to your desk in the morning, todays WOD has been posted and 5:30 or 6:30 cant come fast enough. Pulling into the parking Lot at 6:00pm, hearing the music, Weights being dropped, dodge people running in the parking lot with my car, Justin yelling… It all completely erases the shitty day at work.
My favorite movements are the Dead Lifts, Back Squats & Squat Cleans. I absolutely hate Burpees and Pullups.
Phillip,
What you described is exactly what I go through every day… Not gonna lie, it feels like my job is sucking the soul out of me. CrossFit helps me through each and every miserable day of 8-5. It’s great to know that I have something exciting and truly challenging to face at the end of the work day. There is no corporate bs at the box, no backstabbing, no empty promises, never-ending conference calls, compaining and bitching customers… Words cannot describe how happy I am that I discovered CF and all the amazing people that I met here!!
I gotta win that lottery one of these days…
