Justin Flynn, Director of Training
I have been training with weights since I was 17. I started training friends in college and before I even knew what was happening, training and coaching became my career. I have tried nearly every program out there from Poliquin to Starr. I stumbled on CrossFit in early 2005. I started doing the CrossFit.com Workout of the Day alone at my globo gym. I was skeptical at first that a 5-20 minute workout would be enough considering my old routines used to take upwards of 1.5-2 hrs. Within eight weeks I was stronger, more powerful and had better endurance across the board. I not only looked fit, I was becoming fit. What made it even more unbelievable was that I was working out no more than 20 minutes at a time. I would be in and out of the gym while other guys were still in the locker room. Since then CrossFit has become my sport and I have devoted myself fully to learning, understanding, and training the concepts, science and methodology of CrossFit.
I live and breathe fitness. Success for me is defined by turning my clients into beautifully fit and healthy human beings. Our coaches here at Orange Coast CrossFit lead by example by staying in top condition. Recent accomplishments for myself are: Deadlift 505#, 42 pullups in a row, 54″ box jump, and row 500m in 1:18. At 6’3 and 205# I ran a marathon in fall of 2008 in 3:36 without any training other than CrossFit. I know what it takes to get in shape. I expect alot from my athletes and you can expect to work your ass off in my gym. If your serious about getting unbelievably fit contact us.

Kiki Dickson, Advanced Coach

“Kiki became a part of the CrossFit Community while rowing as an NCAA Division I Athlete at UCLA. Looking for a way to continue training over the summers, she was first introduced to CrossFit by a military veteran also attending UCLA. She began doing CrossFit on her own, learning the lifts by watching main site demos. While backpacking through Europe, she relied heavily on the functionality of CrossFit. She also relied on the body weight workouts to maintain her fitness while on the road. It was easy to see the improvement that CrossFit made in her ability to row, snowboard, and surf. Eventually, she found her way to CrossFit Los Angeles where she began as an intern. She is now well indoctrinated into CrossFit and the lifestyle that supports it. She also knows the ins and outs of a healthy diet and can help you reach your nutritional goals through the Paleo Diet. Being a CrossFit coach, helping others achieve optimum health and fitness, has proven to be a rewarding experience, as she watches the drastic positive transformation in those who dedicate themselves to this crazy sport we call CrossFit.”

Mike Bargetto, Advanced Coach
I’m Mike Bargetto and I have been with OCC since May 2009 and the main reason I call this gym home is because of the people that make it what it really is.
I have been doing CrossFit since 2005 and my first gym was CrossFit HQ in Santa Cruz, CA. I was sold on the methodology of this sport after my first workout. My desires as an athlete is to always better myself both physically and mentally. My intentions and goals as a trainer is to teach the CrossFit method effectively to where it is easy for people to understand and then apply. I have learned so much since being level 1 certified back in 2006 and I’ve realized that healthy, effective communication is a must when teaching.
Why do I CrossFit?
My favorite activities would have to be surfing, climbing and skiing. I understand the relationship and direct correlation CrossFit has with these and most other sports and my abilities through the years have only progressed because my foundation is functional training that takes place at a high intensity. These intense functional and variable movements are CrossFit and if anybody has any questions please give me a call or hit me up in the gym.
We train men and women with several athletic backgrounds and we have people who had never before been in a gym. We welcome everyone at Orange Coast CrossFit. I live by the fact that we differ by degree, not kind.
