Lysanne far left hanging with some of the girls post workout.
This is a sad day for Orange Coast CrossFit. One of our female athletes has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I will let Lysanne tell us in her own words whats going on. Your extended family of OCC is here for you Lysanne! We will fight and beat this together. You will emerge from this an even stronger woman.
“Hey all you crossfitters: A little bump in the road for me!!! I was diagnosed with an early stage of breast cancer. I am only 36 years old…this was a complete shock. Fortunately, the doc suggests a double mastectomy without chemotherapy. I am pretty lucky!! I can’t tell you how much I want to be working out with you all. Coming back with that fierce vengeance…so watch out!!!!”
A few words from your family.
Lysanne,
I am here for you, ANYTHING you need, please let me know. You are a fighter, a strong, wonderful woman and can push far past this.
PLEASE let me know how I can help, I’m sure you have wonderful friends in your life that are there for you, but know you have another family here at OCC that care about you and will help in any way possible.
Lots of love, prayers, hugs and support.
Your friend,
Melanie
Lysanne,
You go girl!!! We’ll be behind you and encouraging you every step along the way.
We’ll hold you to your promise and expect to see you back in the gym soon.

Lysanne,
Ever since you have been coming to the gym you have been setting the bar for me. With your strenght and drive I know you can get through this. We will all be right beside you during this fight. And I expect you to come back and set the bar again for me.
My good thoughts and prayers go out to you. We are here for you if you need anything!

Lysanne,
I clicked on Justin’s website this morning and was so very touched by reading about your diagnosis. And then I read what you wrote and I am amazed by the woman you are and I feel so grateful that Justin has the priviledge of knowing you.
I will keep you in my prayers and in my heart…
Sincerely,, Jeanie Pochatko (Justin’s mom)
Lysanne,
I am inspired but not surprised by your upbeat attitude in the face of this challenge – it fits with what I know about you from workouts.
Can’t wait to have you back.
